PSX extends gains as KSE-100 climbs over 1,400 points

Date:

The Pakistan Stock Exchange extended gains into Thursday’s session, with the benchmark KSE-100 index climbing more than 1,400 points by mid-day.

As of around mid day, the index stood at 166,830.69, up 1,413.19 points or 0.85 percent from Wednesday’s close of 165,417.50. The market remained open.

During the session so far, the index touched an intra-day high of 166,868.14 and a low of 165,613.11. Trading volume reached 112.76 million shares, while the value of shares traded stood at Rs6.84 billion.

The advance builds on Wednesday’s recovery, when the index gained 641 points to reclaim the 165,000 level after earlier volatility. Buying interest, visible in the morning hours across select heavyweight sectors, carried into the afternoon, allowing the benchmark to hold above 166,800.

Market participants continued to track the session as trading remained active. The range so far shows the index moving within a roughly 1,255-point band between its low and high, with volume supporting the upward move.

The mid-day levels leave the KSE-100 comfortably higher for the day, though the final direction will depend on activity in the remaining hours of trade. Wednesday’s close at 165,417.50 followed a session in which the index recovered from an intra-day low near 164,060 amid selective buying.
