Speculation about rapper Nicki Minaj becoming the next White House press secretary has spread across social media following her appearance alongside US President Donald Trump at a rally in Michigan on October 25.
However, no official announcement has confirmed the claims.
According to the report, the buzz began after Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, shared a video featuring Minaj discussing the US economy under the president.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!” Cheung wrote on X. The White House account responded with an eyes emoji, further fuelling online discussion.

Minaj replied to the post with an American flag and a grinning face emoji, but neither response confirmed that she was being considered for the position.
The speculation comes after Katie Zacharia reportedly left the press secretary role just five days after taking office on October 12. Former press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump was evaluating other candidates.
Minaj has become an outspoken Trump supporter, marking a shift from her earlier criticism of his immigration policies.
In 2020, she said she opposed the separation of migrant children from their parents, drawing on her own experience of arriving in the United States as a child.
The White House press secretary is responsible for communicating the president’s agenda, conducting media briefings and answering journalists’ questions. The role requires strong communication skills and detailed knowledge of government policy.
While Minaj’s appearance has prompted debate about a possible appointment, the claims remain unverified. Her citizenship has also been questioned online, with some users raising concerns about her eligibility.
For now, the suggestion that Minaj could become the next White House press secretary remains social media speculation rather than confirmed news.
