KSE-100 index gains 1,136 points in intraday trading amid sustained buying interest

Date:

The Pakistan Stock Exchange remained in positive territory at mid-day on Thursday, with the benchmark KSE-100 index trading at 166,873.49 points, up 1,136.74 points or 0.69 per cent from the previous close of 165,736.75.

The index moved in a range of 165,907.29 to 167,483.48 during the session so far, reflecting steady buying interest after the market opened higher. Volume stood at approximately 191 million shares, while the value of shares traded reached around Rs12.27 billion by early afternoon.

The advance marked the fourth consecutive session of gains. On Wednesday, the index had closed at 165,736.76 after rising 1,269.55 points, or 0.77 per cent, supported by stronger-than-expected corporate results and improved investor sentiment.

Market activity remained focused on selected stocks, with interest continuing in fertiliser, banking, power and related sectors that had driven recent sessions.

Participation stayed moderate compared with Wednesday’s higher turnover, as investors assessed the sustainability of the recovery near the 167,000 level.

Analysts noted that the mid-day gains were consistent with the broader recovery trend seen over the past few sessions, though profit-taking at higher levels could still emerge later in the day.

The market’s ability to hold above the previous close kept the overall tone constructive into the afternoon.
