Farhat Ishtiaq is taking Zanjeerain beyond television and into the world of audio storytelling, with an audio version of the drama set to launch on her official platforms in October.
The acclaimed writer announced the upcoming series on Instagram following the conclusion of the television drama, directing viewers towards the audio adaptation on her official YouTube channel.
The announcement read, “We are extremely pleased to announce that we are going to start the audio series of the blockbuster drama Zanjeerain on Farhat Ishtiaq’s official YouTube channel from October. We hope that you will enjoy this audio series just as much”.
Zanjeerain premiered in April, with Sajal Aly, Ameer Gilani, Danyal Zafar, Sahar Hashmi and Ahsan Khan among its principal cast. Written by Ishtiaq, the drama was set against a mountainous backdrop and brought together romance, family conflict, tradition, power and long-standing rivalries.
At its centre was Rabiya, played by Sajal Aly, whose life became intertwined with Muddasir and Sar Buland as the story explored questions of family honour, loyalty and the consequences of decisions made by previous generations.
The drama’s sprawling ensemble of characters and interconnected relationships placed individual choices within a broader web of family history and social expectations, giving the story a narrative that extended well beyond its central romance.

With the television series now complete, the audio adaptation offers audiences a different way to experience the story. Without the visual elements of locations, costumes and performances, the audio format places greater emphasis on dialogue, narration, characterisation and Ishtiaq’s writing.
The announcement was met with enthusiasm from fans, with several viewers taking to the comments to praise the writer and express their excitement about the new format. One user wrote, “Please write part two”, while another described the drama as “Unforgettable”.
For audiences familiar with Ishtiaq’s work, the move into audio storytelling is not entirely new. Her official YouTube channel has previously featured audio versions of stories, including Meem Se Mohabbat, published as part of the “Awaz Kahani Series”.
The upcoming Zanjeerain audio series therefore continues Ishtiaq’s exploration of a format that allows her stories to be experienced with a greater focus on the written narrative and the conversations between her characters.
Rather than simply revisiting the television drama, the audio adaptation gives Zanjeerain another life — this time through voices, dialogue and storytelling rather than the screen.
